SCHEDULE OVERVIEW

Autumn Term: 25th September to 14th December
The first term will begin with diagrams and networked maps of the product’s global assembly. It will have global and local reach, material research data and virtual organizational principles discovered in the research component. Process of manufacturing and working principles of the product should be well documented.

Tutorials in 3dmax, illustrator and Jitter will be conducted. The final assignment due at the end of this term will be a built “vitrine” (display box for product). This showcase vitrine of the product will be information based, extremely well crafted and detailed with interactive components and portable to be fit within a hand luggage parameter for travelling.

Dec 3rd – Dec 14th: Trip to factories in Dong guan/ ShenZhen China. Site Visit and analysis in Hong Kong.

Spring Term: 8th January to 23rd March
January 9th : First day of class: Group meeting at unit 1 room

After the trip to Hong Kong we will come back to the AA and begin analysing and building a group physical model of the site (1:100 scale) and 3d model of the context.

We will also organize the photo documentation of factories and workspaces of the sites visited.

Animation, 3d tutorials and Jitter will be taught intensively this term and we will begin to develop an argument for the office agency design for the site.

Each student will create five study models for the January 23rd of the ‘agency’ building design.

At the end of the Spring Term we will do a one week charette as a group to design a group fabrication detail and 3form eco-resin mock up. This will be fabricated and sponsored by 3form.

Summer Term: 23 April to Friday 6 July
Design drawings, final details of façade system and building design.
Drawing package of building design, details 1:2 to 1:1000 site plan due as portfolio

A required: one-minute animation of façade system- that documents and describes the façade and building design that deals with ‘representation’ of the agency and its relationship to the ‘front’ and ‘back office’. Details with audio components will be interwoven into the animation.

The final end of year installation will open 6th July. We will have the group mock-up of the 3form panel and interactive live piece of Jitter/ technology installed. In this final installation, ten individual portfolios displayed and animations of each students work will be on publicly exhibited.
